What started as an attempt to make people smile through a classic comfort food alternative, evolved into a movement of self-love, hope and slowing down.
It started as an attempt to make people smile through a comfort food alternative…
And… we achieved that. Delicious gluten-free, sugar-free, edible cookie dough.
It wasn’t enough though. I thought I could be content making and selling my dream comfort product. I loved seeing people smile as they indulged in it, a brief moment of joy, of comfort.
It was just that though… brief. Too brief. Too fleeting. The same way the impact wasn’t lasting, neither was my drive for the company. It had to be more than just a brief moment.
I began to learn that impact was far too important for me. My heart is not okay with how unworthy, alone and hopeless people feel in this world; how fast paced it is; how much we’ve lost touch with wonder, magic and awe.
It had to be a movement…
So, we launched our first campaign “Self-Love Summer” and the messages came pouring in. People were moved, pausing, slowing down, exploring worthiness. That’s when I knew I had found our mission.
We started going around cities in Washington and posting cards and stickers with messages of hope in public places. People were finding them and messaging us thank yous and I needed that so we never stopped after that. And we have no intention to. More campaigns followed.
I did an interview last week where the interviewer asked “all this because someone you love passed away?” and I responded “no, all this because I learned insurmountable pain is not insurmountable. I will stand on that until the end of my time. “
There isn’t enough hope in this world, there aren’t enough voices whispering that you are going to be so okay and you are so beyond worthy. If I can make even a small dent in that, it’s worth it. It’s so worth it. And, heck yeah, I’m going to use cookie dough to do it.
To the reader:
I want you to know that insurmountable pain is not insurmountable. You are going to be so okay. I am ALWAYS rooting for you. The other side exists and I’m holding on to it for you until you can get there.
May the Whispers of Hope find you when you need them.
